  5. There are 09 students pursuing for the above degrees under  Dr D M Vashi and Dr.P S Patel. One student is awarded M.Phil degree under the supervision of  Dr.P S Patel

Co-Curricular Activities

Chemistry Department conducted UGC aided Add-On Courses during 2005-2008 with the following views:

  •  To equip the students with the latest available knowledge, pertaining to their chosen courses , 

  •  To impart sufficient knowledge and skills, so as to enable them to take up careers in their respective field of specialization. 

 The following courses were offered:
 
  1. The Chemistry  students carried out 8000 samples of soil testing  

  2. The students are organizing chemconquest  for college students  to show their talent in scientific activities each year. 

  3. The Faculty members are motivating and encouraging the students to participate in co-curricular activities like debate competition,  Drama competition , Solo song competition, NCC, NSS  and sports activities. Our students have participated in different competition of Youth festival organized by Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and won prizes.

  4. Our student Swati Patel was awarded University gold medal for securing Ist position at M.Sc. Examination for the year 2007-2008.

Best Out Of Waste

Undergraduate S.Y.B.Sc. Students made very impressive periodic table from waste wooden boxes, they colored, traced the elements’ names, and Lo! It is a permanent master piece in the centre of the department.

History

The Chemistry Department started B.Sc. Chemistry (English Medium) since the inception of college in 1985, with a first batch of 18 students passing out in 1988 with five faculty members.

At present the Chemistry Department is running B.Sc., M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry), M.Phil.  and Ph.D courses. The students strength in B.Sc. is 249 and  in M.Sc. it is 60. The no. of Ph.D. students enrolled is 8 and one in M.Phil.
